I have been baking for other people's important days since I was in my twenties, which is a very long time. Most of my cakes are gifts. Some have been charged for: the cost of the ingredients plus a little extra, which is donated to various charities. I have never made money for myself: this is a hobby I love, and I enjoy every minute spent making dreams come true.
I started because a cake says what words sometimes cannot. It is a gift of time, a small sweet act of showing someone how much you care for them.
Most of what I make goes to people I know: birthdays, weddings, christenings and a great many made for charity events, to raise money at coffee mornings, in raffles and at other celebrations. Most of the money raised has gone to armed forces charities, and some to several other charities, which matters to me more than I can easily explain.
I am not a business and never have been. This is simply somewhere the cakes can live, so I stop losing them in old phone photos.
